Love and Light of Diwali!

Diwali is the festival of Lights & Love!

The celebration of lights brings us contentment and joy, and so does our daily food.
While enjoying Diwali, make sure it’s a happy and safe celebration for everyone in your family and your mind and body. Lets us now learn how to eat mindfully. Moderation is the key to everything. Learn to moderate earlier and rather than mitigate later. We will decide how we will take good care of ourselves this Diwali and follow healthy and safe food guidelines. Minor modifications in the way you celebrate should be straightforward and helpful for anyone to practice.
Following are some tips:

  • Never skip meals as that makes one binge-on-sight for any food. When you eat your meals on time, your stomach is full, and your brain will signal you not to eat more.
  • Consume 10-12 glasses of purified water every day to stay hydrated.
  • Mind your beverages during parties. Keep a tab on liquor quantity you intake. Alternatively, you can prefer limewater, green tea, fresh fruit juice without sugar.
  • Take small servings and eat from smaller plates. Take a good time to enjoy the meal and relish every bite rather than gulping down.
  • Make Sweets at home while practicing healthy cooking by using pure and unadulterated ingredients. Choose substitutes like jaggery/brown rice/fruit dessert.
  • Make sure you make time for daily exercise. That will give you positive energy.
  • Always eat something before you step out. Avoid entering any party on an empty stomach. A light snack or fruit beforehand can help you avoid jumping to the fatty/oily food.
  • While you are at the buffet, choose the items on your plate wisely.
  • Increase the intake of fruits and vegetables during festivals in all meals. You can eat Carrots, Cucumbers, make a mixed salad, a fruit chaat, or eat the whole fruit. Snacking on fruits and vegetables is always beneficial.
  • Compensate whenever you over-eat or binge. Go lighter on the next meal after consuming extra than usual. Do extra exercise or walk for compensation.
  • Choose healthier alternatives to Traditional Foods.
  • Prefer crunchy dry-fruits and nuts as an alternative to chips and biscuits. You can eat cashews, pistachios, walnuts, almonds, raisins, figs, etc. These are healthier and tastier alternatives to oily snacks and sweets.

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy Diwali!
