Diabetes — What you should know?

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is the condition in which the body does not properly process food to be used as energy. Most of the food that we eat is converted into glucose or sugar, used by the body for life. The pancreas, an organ that lies near the stomach, produces a hormone called insulin to help glucose get into our bodies’ cells.

Diabetes is pronounced as di-a-be-teez and not die-ah-beat-us because we refuse to let it beat us.
